Good to know
Everything you need to know before and during your adventure
Most international travelers require a visa to enter Uganda, Rwanda or Tanzania. The visa application must be submitted online before departure via the official e-Visa portal:
- Uganda: https://visas.immigration.go.ug/
- Rwanda: https://irembo.gov.rw/
- Tanzania: https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/
We recommend submitting your application at least two to four weeks before your departure to allow sufficient processing time.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry and contain at least one blank page.
Kenya: International travelers do not require a visa to enter Kenya. Instead, all visitors must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before departure via the official Kenya eTA portal: https://www.etakenya.go.ke/
We recommend submitting your application at least two to four weeks before your departure to allow sufficient processing time.

We recommend bringing soft-sided luggage or a duffel bag with a maximum weight of 20 kg (44 lbs), plus a small daypack for your daily essentials. Soft bags are easier to load into our 4x4 safari vehicles than hard-shell suitcases and help maximize available space.
For trekking acitvities such as gorilla and chimpanzee trekking we also recommend bringing a small daypack for your daily essentials, such as water, sunscreen, a rain jacket, camera equipment and personal items. It will be particularly useful during activities such as gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, where you only carry what you need for the day.
Complimentary drinking water is available throughout the journey, allowing you to refill your water bottle whenever needed while helping to reduce unnecessary plastic waste.
Uganda uses Type G (UK-style) electrical sockets with a standard voltage of 240V / 50Hz. We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter to charge your electronic devices. Charging facilities are available at all lodges, although occasional power outages may occur in remote areas.
Please note that many lodges, particularly in remote locations, rely on solar power. The available electricity is generally sufficient for charging phones, cameras and other small electronic devices, but high-power appliances such as hairdryers are usually not permitted. So feel free to leave your hairdryer at home – you'll have more room for souvenirs!
Wildlife Experiences
Every safari is unique.
Every trek is unique and can last anywhere from one to several hours, depending on where the gorillas are found. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt to protect yourself from stinging plants and insects, and bring plenty of drinking water. Hiring a local porter is entirely optional but highly recommended. Porters can carry your daypack and offer a steady hand on steep or muddy trails. Their service costs approximately USD 20 and is worth every dollar—not only because it makes the trek more comfortable, but also because it provides an important source of income for local families living around the national park.
Take a moment to put your camera down. While the photos will last a lifetime, many travellers say their most treasured memory is simply sitting quietly, watching the gorillas and enjoying this extraordinary encounter with their own eyes.
