Tom

Founder, Managing Partner & Safari Guide

Some people discover Africa.
Others dedicate their lives to it.
Tom belongs to the latter.

For more than twenty years, Tom has been guiding travellers through Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. During this time, he has gained an in-depth knowledge of East Africa’s national parks, its wildlife, and the unique landscapes that make this region so extraordinary.

For over two decades, he has welcomed travellers from Europe, North America, and many other parts of the world. Anyone who has travelled with Tom quickly understands why guests often joke that he has the eyes of an eagle. While others are still admiring the scenery, Tom has already spotted a leopard resting high in an acacia tree or a lion hidden almost invisibly in the tall grass.

But his remarkable ability to spot wildlife is only part of what makes him such a valued guide.

Those who travel with Tom soon discover that very little unsettles him. Whether facing long days on the road, challenging tracks, or unexpected situations, he remains calm, attentive, and dependable. His quiet confidence allows guests to relax, enjoy the journey, and fully immerse themselves in the experience.

For Tom, a safari is about far more than wildlife sightings. It is about understanding nature, treating it with respect, and sharing his passion for East Africa with others.

Anyone travelling with Tom experiences East Africa alongside someone who has spent decades exploring this remarkable region—and whose enthusiasm for every safari remains as strong today as it was when his journey first began.

Meike

Co-Founder & Your Personal Contact for German-Speaking Guests

Meike, Co-Founder & Your Personal Contact for German-Speaking Guests

Some places fascinate us.
Others change the way we see the world.
For Meike, Africa became one of those places.

Having travelled extensively and experienced many different cultures, it was East Africa that captured her heart in a way no other destination had before. Its vast landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and above all, the warmth of its people sparked a passion that has stayed with her ever since.

An African proverb describes this feeling perfectly:
“You can leave Africa – but Africa never leaves you.”
That is exactly how Meike feels.

Before co-founding Pure Nature Eco Safari, Meike successfully ran her own travel company, organising wellness and experience retreats in Italy. Bringing people together, creating meaningful travel experiences, and planning every journey with great attention to detail have always been at the heart of her work.

Today, she combines that experience with her passion for East Africa. As the personal contact for our German-speaking guests, she supports them from their very first travel idea through to their return home. She believes that careful planning, personal advice, and attention to even the smallest details are what transform a good holiday into an unforgettable journey.

For Meike, a journey is only truly successful when her guests return home with unforgettable memories.

Alongside her passion for travel, Meike is also a passionate wildlife photographer. Almost all of the photographs featured throughout this website were taken during her own travels across East Africa. With patience, a trained eye, and genuine enthusiasm, she captures the small and extraordinary moments that make Africa so unique.

Her wish is simple: That every guest experiences East Africa with the same sense of wonder that first inspired her—and perhaps returns home with a little piece of Africa forever in their heart.

Shallon

Your Local Connection to Uganda

For Shallon, Uganda is far more than just home — it is a country she loves to share with visitors from around the world.

As part of the Pure Nature Eco Safari team, she supports our guests from their very first enquiry through to their arrival in Uganda, making sure they feel welcome, well-informed, and well cared for every step of the way. With her warm personality, infectious smile, and excellent organisational skills, she is often one of the first people our travellers get to know.

Together with her husband, Tom, she has travelled extensively throughout Uganda, exploring its national parks, protected areas, and cultural attractions. She enjoys creating personalised travel experiences that reflect each guest's interests and dreams. For Shallon, it's not just about visiting Uganda's famous highlights—it's about discovering the authentic moments and hidden treasures that make every journey truly special.

What she values most about Uganda is its people, its rich culture, and the genuine hospitality for which the country is known. She believes that the most meaningful travel memories are created when visitors embrace new experiences with open minds and open hearts.

Through her commitment to responsible tourism, Shallon hopes to help protect Uganda's extraordinary wildlife and natural heritage for future generations while creating opportunities that benefit local communities.

Her goal is simple: for every guest to leave Uganda with unforgettable memories—and the desire to return one day.

“I love sharing my home country with visitors and helping them discover the beauty, culture, and warmth that make Uganda so special. For me, every journey is an opportunity to create meaningful memories and leave guests with a lasting connection to Uganda.”
